Artist

Born in Liverpool, UK, I always loved painting and drawing and was never happier than when I got art materials as birthday or Christmas presents.

I almost entered the Liverpool College of Art (yes, the same one John Lennon went to) to do the foundation course, intending to become a Graphic Designer. Unfortunately, I was put off by the interview technique of the head of the art department who had been picked up for being drunk and disorderly the night before and was in a very bad mood!!

Art was now a hobby and my career went in a different direction.

Years later, after marriage, emigrating to Canada, having children, and lots of different jobs, I took up drawing again after a brief interlude with a bad back when I was unable to work. At the suggestion of my very unartistic husband, I tried acrylics and haven't looked back. I paint mainly landscapes and pet portraits by commission.

I became a member of the Kanata Art Club in 2006. A year later, I had my first showing in a gallery, winning an Honourable Mention and Viewers' Choice award, and then I sold my first painting. This year I won the Award of Excellence and the Jurors' Choice award and came second in the Viewers' Choice at the annual Juried Show. I am now also a member of the newly formed Ottawa West Arts Association.
